Parsley - Petroselinum Crispum

Native to Lebanon to Sardinia, parsley is a biennial plant that is typically grown as an annual. This herb is available in two leaf styles: flat leaf or curly leaf. The flat leaf variety (also called 'Italian parsley) has a more pronounced flavor while the curly leaf is more decorative.

Growing Parsley

Slow-germenating seeds do best if soaked overnight, then rinsed well before planting. Start seeds 8 weeks before the last frost, and take care not to snap its delicate tap root as you transplant.

Parsley enjoys full sun to part shade and likes moist, well-drained soils. The plans grow up to 18 inches tall, and the curly varieties are often grown as garden edging. Fertilize monthly during the growing season. This plant is self-sewing.
